Her first book, Stigma and the Shaping of the Pornography Industry, was published by Routledge in 2015. She is currently working on her second book, on systems, forthcoming with Verso.
Recent works have addressed notions of hype, technological exceptionalism, expectations, and deviance around infrastructural, military, and computational systems.
Precenting The Line (2019), a performance and video work embodies and disentangles notions of hype, charisma, and the sublime around infrastructure and computational technologies, Resonance (2018) channels and dissembles technological corporate aesthetics and narratives through the launch of the Powerwall battery and the presence of Elon Musk.
A large-scale mural, Wild Spirits (2017), traces the messy relationships and expectations around emerging technologies in the pornography industry, through headlines, articles, and cartoons taken from forty years of the sector’s major trade publications.
Through additive manufacturing approaches, Situated Systems (2016) - in collaboration with Ingrid Burrington, Deb Chachra, and Sherri Wasserman - reflexively explores the effects of the military-industrial complex on San Francisco’s technology industries and culture.
Georgina holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from SPRU, University of Sussex, and an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and History of Science from Oxford University.
Prior to joining LCC, she held roles with Goldsmiths, RCA, and Tinker London; and visiting positions with UCL, University of Southern California, and MIT.
