Biography
-
George's research is focused on the economics of subjective wellbeing and the environment.
Through the geo-located experience sampling study Mappiness he has generated a large panel data set — over 3.5 million responses from more than 65,000 individuals — that provides new lines of evidence on environmental impacts on wellbeing. He is now applying a similar method to investigate wellbeing and productivity within organisations.
George previously worked at UCL (2011 – 2012). He gained his PhD, on Happiness and environmental quality, at LSE (2007 – 2011), and prior degrees from Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge.
George is committed to public and policy engagement. He has spoken at TEDx Brighton (2011) and has substantial media experience, including national radio and TV interviews.

George is a co-founder of Psychological Technologies (PSYT Ltd), which seeks to measure and enhance wellbeing and productivity within organisations.
