Gabriel Huppé is a Senior Research Associate with the Responsible Investing Initiative. He studies the working of the responsible investment and sustainable finance industry through empirical research methods. His most recent pieces have centred on the causes and consequence of shareholder passivity, and the profitability of socially responsible investment strategies. Gabriel obtained a Bachelor of International Business with a Concentration in International Finance, Investment and Banking from Carleton University. He also holds Master’s Degrees from Queen’s University and Maastricht University. Gabriel was an Analyst at Deutsche Asset Management where he helped asset-liability management and portfolio management teams incorporate sustainability criteria into investment processes and products for institutional investors.
Gabriel also serves in a voluntary capacity as the Director of Membership and Strategic Partnerships for the Coalition of Universities for Responsible Investing, and as a Technical Advisor for the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
