Elizabeth S. Katzen is a full-time lecturer in the business law department at the Miami Herbert Business School. She is a 1988 graduate of the University of Miami School of Law. Prior to law school, she earned her bachelor of science degree majoring in communication.

Dr. Katzen has been a practicing attorney since graduation from law school and is admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. Since 1994, she has been law partners with her parents focusing primarily on tort (personal injury) law and criminal law. For the first seven years of her law practice, she worked as an assistant public defender practicing criminal defense for indigents in state court and as an assistant federal defender practicing criminal defense for indigents in federal court.

In 1999, Dr. Katzen was appointed by the Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit as a Civil Traffic Hearing Officer. She continues to preside over these cases on a part-time basis.

Prior to her becoming a full time lecturer, she was an adjunct faculty member in the litigation skills program at the University of Miami School of Law.

At the University of Miami, Dr. Katzen teaches negotiation and critical thinking and persuasion for business.
