Biography
Kenan-Flagler Business School
Elizabeth Dickinson teaches business communication at UNC Kenan-Flagler. She also is an affiliated faculty member in the Curriculum for the Environment and Ecology in the College of Arts & Sciences at UNC-Chapel Hill. She has taught numerous communication and interdisciplinary courses to diverse undergraduate and graduate student bodies in eight universities across the United States and in China.
Dr. Dickinson conducts researches in the areas of intercultural communication, environmental communication and gender. In her environmental communication and sustainability scholarship, her research includes eco-theory and philosophy; environmental education; environmental consumerism; space, place, and landscape; epistemologies of science, politics, and economics; environmental conflict; environmental justice; and ecofeminism. In intercultural communication, she studies critical theories of culture, gender, and how cultural ideologies are produced, consumed, performed, and resisted through communication. She uses qualitative, rhetorical and critical methods and approaches.
Dr. Dickinson has experience working in corporate, nonprofit, business and academic environments, including in marketing and industry research.
She has international experience working and living in Japan, China and the Netherlands.
Dr. Dickinson received a PhD from the University of New Mexico, an MA from New Mexico State University and a BA from California State University San Bernardino.
