Smith School of Business
Dr. Wightman is a lead software engineer at Google X, the Google facility dedicated to making major technological advancements. He is currently focused on the design of planning and simulation systems for Project Loon, an effort to provide Internet access through a network of high-altitude balloons. Doug previously co-founded three technology companies and has over a decade of experience advising startups. He earned his Masters in Computer Science at Stanford University and PhD from Queen’s University. Doug is an alumnus of the Institute of Design (d.school) at Stanford, and first taught design thinking at Queen's in 2011.
