Biography

Prior to joining Temple University, Dr. Diana Wildermuth spent three years as a school counselor at the Bucks County Technical High School and 12 years at Kennett High School in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania as a school counselor and department chairperson. She is also a national certified counselor (NCC) and licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania. Her past research has included resilience and acculturation differences with Mexican American and Mexican students and the relationship to academic achievement. Her research focuses on working with immigrant families and children, school counselor identity development, and more recently, sports counseling with a multicultural focus. Utilizing her past and current research, she embeds multiculturalism counseling in all her courses and in her training of counselors. She has developed curriculum specifically designed for training school counselors to work with English Language Learners. Dr. Wildermuth presents regularly on providing school counselors and counselors in training on how to counsel and work with English language learners and undocumented students.
