Biography
Harvard Medical School
Dr. Christin Sander is an Assistant Professor at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center of Biomedical Imaging, Department of Radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Affiliate Faculty in Bioengineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. She completed her PhD in Electrical Engineering at MIT and received an MEng and MSc from Imperial College and University College London. Her research has focused on multi-modal neuroimaging, spanning interdisciplinary fields within engineering, neuroscience and clinical applications.
Dr. Sander is leading a multi-disciplinary and collaborative research lab at the Martinos Center on multi-modal imaging of neuromodulation & receptors. A major focus of her lab is the functional imaging neuroreceptors (such as the dopamine system), neurotransmitter release and dynamic modulation through drug exposure, together with imaging physiology and metabolism of the brain. Her research team focuses on the development of simultaneous PET/fMRI methodology, dynamic pharmacokinetic models and analysis techniques for imaging receptor dynamics. She uses both preclinical, translational and clinical approaches to study molecular mechanisms of neurotransmission as well as brain (dys)function in psychiatry, addiction and other brain disorders.
Dr. Sander has received an NIH K99/R00 Career Award from the National Institute of Drug Abuse and has been active in various scientific communities: She has been named Junior Fellow at the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and received an Early Career Investigator Award from the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. She has served on the program committee for the WMIC for the last 3 years and was program committee Co-Chair for the WMIC 2019 meeting.
