PhD, Warburg Institute, University of London; MA, University of Edinburgh

Chantal Brotherton-Ratcliffe taught full-time at the Sotheby's Institute of Art for 29 years and is now a consultant lecturer. Her areas of expertise are 16th and 17th-century painting and she is also trained as a painting restorer. Combining this experience with her knowledge of the history of Old Masters, she teaches with an emphasis on historical painting techniques. Fluent in French and Italian, Brotherton-Ratcliffe lectures regularly for a wide range of courses and Institutions in London, the United States, and Europe. She is a member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA)
