A/Prof Chionh is currently the Chief, Department of Medicine and a Senior Consultant with the Department of Renal Medicine at Changi General Hospital (CGH). He practices general nephrology with an interest in acute kidney injury and continuous renal replacement therapy.

He received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore. Following completion of specialist training in renal medicine in Singapore, he spent time as a research fellow in critical care nephrology in Italy.

He holds several academic appointments as an active undergraduate and postgraduate medical educator. He is also active in clinical research and he has contributed to journal publications and book chapters and in the area of critical care nephrology and has a special intrest in medical devices.
