Cathy Onion

Prior to Dale Carnegie, Onion served as an assistant professor in Management and Marketing at Western Illinois University for 18 years where she taught students business principles: professionalism, leadership, business writing, management theory and practice, and reviewed more than 1,500 resumes and cover letters. She earned the College of Business and Technology Excellence in Teaching Award two times.

An additional 14 years were spent as the Associate Alumni Director where she advised and mentored students, taught courses, led workshops, developed and implemented special events, presented at regional and national conferences, won several CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) Awards for programming excellence, and co-authored the CASE book Alumni Relations: Launching Your Program for with Dr. Gordon Taylor.

She was a contributing author to Be a Kid Again and Emotionally Intelligent Leadership for Students by Marcy Shankman and Scott Allen.
