Weatherhead School of Management

CNV Krishnan, PhD, Professor of Banking and Finance, is currently Department Chair, Banking and Finance, and Faculty Director, Master of Science in Management-Finance. As director of the MSM-Finance program, Krishnan has successfully managed the expansion of the program, creation of tracks of specialization, and corporate involvement in the program.

Krishnan’s research and teaching interests are in the area of corporate finance. His research is centered in empirical corporate finance and deals with how financial intermediaries/financial services providers (banks, bank regulators, investment bankers, venture capitalists, law firms, law courts, fund managers/investment advisors) help create or destroy value. His research has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Finance and presented at top academic conferences including the American Finance Association, Western Finance Association, and Financial Management Association Meetings. His research has been discussed in the Wall Street Journal and Reuters.com and is cited by the U.S. SEC. He is on the program committee of several major financial association conferences.

Krishnan was nominated for teaching excellence awards for graduate or undergraduate teaching in 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2015. He received the Weatherhead School of Management Teaching Excellence Award in 2012 and Wolstein Society Amazing Mentor and Guide Award Winner in 2015. He has also been involved in executive education abroad.

Krishnan holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad. He was initially appointed to Weatherhead School of Management in 2001.
