Biography

After studying economics at the University of Paderborn, he did his doctorate at the Chair of Theoretical Macroeconomics at the University of Paderborn on the subject of population development and technical progress.

As a research assistant, he gave lectures on macroeconomics and researched the economic implications of demographic changes.

After completing his doctorate, he started working for Oldenburgische Landesbank AG (OLB) in 1989. He initially held various positions there before taking over the management of the Luxembourg branch of OLB in 1998.

From 2002 to 2017 he worked at Bankhaus W. Fortmann & Söhne, Oldenburg.

For the period from 2005 to 2014, as a personally liable and managing partner of the Oldenburg bank, he was the managing director in accordance with Section 32 of the KWG. After the bank was integrated into OLB, he worked in wealth management at OLB until May 2019.

Alongside his job, he taught general banking and currently business ethics and sustainability management at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. In 2017 he completed his training as a mediator and business mediator and has been working as a mediator and coach ever since.

He has been a lecturer at the FOM Bremen since March 2019.
