Allison R. Larson, MD, MS, is a board-certified dermatologist affiliated with MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She is Physician Executive Director of Dermatology for MedStar Health and Academic Chair for Dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center. She is also fellowship-trained in dermatopathology.

Dr. Larson sees patients for all general dermatologic concerns. Her clinical interests include lichen sclerosus; inflammatory dermatoses; and benign, premalignant and malignant skin growths. Her research interests include medical education and equity in medicine.

Dr. Larson received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Following her internship, she completed a three-year residency in dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

She was part of the Department of Dermatology at Boston University until 2021, where she was awarded Teacher of the Year for Preclinical Sciences at Boston University School of Medicine and Department of Dermatology awards for teaching and leadership. At Boston University, she served as Assistant Dean for Medical Education and as Dermatology Residency Program Director. She joined MedStar Health in 2021. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Association of Professors in Dermatology, and Women’s Dermatologic Society.

In keeping with her interest in medical education, she is currently serving as Chair for the American Academy of Dermatology Basic Curriculum Working Group.
