Alex Gonzalez, MD, MPH is the Medical Director at Fenway Health, where he oversees a staff of over 50 physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, and clerical staff in the delivery of medical care to Fenway’s approximately 23,000 patients.

Programs within the Medical Department include outpatient primary care; specialty clinics in alternative insemination, dermatology, diabetes, HIV, nutrition, obstetrics and gynecology, pulmonology, podiatry, general infectious disease, transgender health, and women’s health; complementary therapy services in massage, chiropractic, and acupuncture; and nurse-led programs such as team-based nursing, the weekly hepatitis immunization and STD clinic, and our call center.

Alex obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tulane University and a combined medical and public health degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency training in Primary Care Internal Medicine at Beth Israel, and he is board certified in Internal Medicine. He is currently an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a certified HIV Specialist with the American Academy of HIV Medicine. He has worked at Fenway since 2005.
