Biography

Valérie Moatti is an full Professor in the Information and Operations Management departement at ESCP Europe Paris Campus. Her teaching areas are Supply Chain Management, Operation Management and Strategic Management. After graduating from ESCP Europe with a Master in Management, she held various positions with Procter & - Gamble and with Pinault-Printemps-Redoute over a period of 8 years. In particular she was responsible for development and venture projects within the Strategic Planning Unit of Pinault-Printemps-Redoute. After a PhD in management science at HEC (December 2005), she became Assistant Professor at ESCP Europe where she developed Supply Chain Management courses. Her PhD dissertation dealt with growth strategies and more specifically the choice of expansion mode (internal growth, mergers and acquisitions and alliances). Her research covers growth strategies and the interface between strategy and supply chain management. Part of her work extends her dissertation and analyzes the impact of alternative modes of expansion on corporate performance. She is also looking into the circumstances that lead a firm to choose a specific mode of expansion rather than another. Her current main research focuses on the social and environmental dimensions of supply chain management. Her current work focuses on the sustainable dimension of supply chain management. She is the author of articles (published in Strategic Management Journal, European Management Journal, International Journal of Logistics : Research and Applications, and Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Supply Chain Forum – An International Journal…), book chapters and communications at international research conferences (Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, Association Internationale de Management Stratégique). Separately, she founded the “Supply Chain Monitoring Unit” in cooperation with BearingPoint and Supply Chain Magazine and Supply Chain annual  - summer Forum in partnership with Supply Chain Magazine. She is the Academic Director of Lectra Chair " - Fashion & - Technology" - .
