Biography
-
My name is Dr. Swagatika Nanda. I hold a Ph.D. degree in Economics (2013) from University of Hyderabad (Central University). I work as an Assistant Professor at Vidyalankar School of Information Technology since 2017. I teach Economics, International Finance, Business Mathematics and Research Methodology in both undergraduate and post graduate courses. My core area of Teaching and Research is Economics and Finance.I have keen interest in research. I am well versed with many statistical tools like E-views, SPSS, STATA, R which makes my research process technical. In the last three years, I have developed myself as a teacher and an educator. I personally believe a researcher grows with teaching while surrounded with young enthusiastic mind. At VSIT, I am an Economics faculty in the department of Accounting and Finance and also the Second Year In-Charge. I have worked in many committees like Library Committee, Research and Development Committee, Unfair Means Committee, NAAC Committee, etc.
I started my initial education in Odisha in my native land and grew up in a traditional way where education played an important role. I was a fan of Ms. Kiran Bedi and I wished to be a civil servant. The entire scenario changed when I pursued my higher studies at University of Hyderabad and stayed in hostel. The research environment and interaction with eminent personalities like Dr. Y V Reddy, former RBI Governor motivated me towards research. Before the current teaching position, I worked with many institutes as a Research Analyst. I am fortunate enough to be associated with brand institutes like University of Hyderabad (Central University) and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. I have also worked with many start-up companies like Solaron Tech, Bangalore and Public Finance India, Hyderabad that taught me responsibility, dedication, and integrity. The research techniques learnt then helped me in nurturing myself as a research scholar. I have also received a grant of six lakhs from Govt. via a sponsored (ICSSR) Project on Women Entrepreneurship in the year 2018 after I joined VSIT. I have published many research papers till now in reputed journals and wish to publish book in the near future.
I love to play with kids and that is a great time if I have enough of it. I also love to watch movies and my stress buster is music. Be it a musical instrument or vocal songs, I release stress when I listen to it. Yoga is my long time passion which I still continue. My goal is not to be perfect but to be strong enough to face any odds in life. My philosophy is, “It is OK to see failure in life; but we should have courage to continue with confidence and smile.”
