Biography

Sami Ismat is an interdisciplinary theatre, performance & video artist from Syria. Select conceiving credits include: Lemon & Oil, Transfixed, Every Time I Step Towards Freedom. Collaborations include: New Normal by Jonas Becker (MCA Chicago), Atlas Unlimited by Karthik Pandian and Andros Zins-Browne (Logan Center Exhibitions). As a teaching artist Sami facilitated several workshops & delivered artist talks at a number of institutions including Harvard University & the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is an adjunct professor in theatre & performance at Columbia College Chicago & DePaul University. Sami is also a soccer coach for Edgewater Castle FC, Chicago.

Sami has interests in ethics in art, politics, philosophy, mass media, social media & pop culture's impact on society.
