Biography

I am an Assistant Professor in the department of Philosophy and Religion at Ithaca College. I grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and received my B.A. in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan before completing an A.M. in Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University. I earned my Ph.D. in Islamic Studies at UNC Chapel Hill from the department of Religious Studies in 2020. I have additional language training in Arabic (AUC in Egypt, the Noor Majan Institute in Oman) and Urdu (American Institute of Indian Studies in Lucknow). My family and I currently live on the lands of the Haudenosaunee in Ithaca with our two cats, Mamluk and Seljuk.
