Mukta’s current areas of research interest include organizational diversity management and forms of social inclusion. She has published papers in international journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Human Relations, Human Resource Management, Journal of Management Inquiry, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and The Leadership Quarterly.

Her co-authored work has been recognized by Academy of Management Journal (Best Paper Award, 2007), Academy of Management (Carlo Masini Award nomination, 2011), Personnel Review(Outstanding Paper, 2016), Human Relations (Among The Top Papers, 2017), and Academy of Management (Saroj Parasuraman Award nomination, 2017).

She was the Young Faculty Research Chair at IIM Bangalore (2009-2012) and her work has been featured in radio programs and in print media in the United States and India.

Service

Mukta serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several international journals and is currently serving on the Editorial Board of Human Relations, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: An International Journal. She has served as a Member, International HRM Scholarly Award Committee for 2015 (Academy of Management, HR Division).

With respect to her work on disability, Mukta has served as a Member, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Committee on Special Abilities 2015-2016. She has also authored reports on disability for The National Trust, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India; and for the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in Karnataka. Mukta is currently a member of EnAble India’s Advisory Board.

At IIM Bangalore, Mukta has been a member of several academic committees (PGP, FPM, EPGP review, Research and Publications) and has chaired the FPM review in 2014-15. She is currently the Chairperson of the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management Area.
