Overview

I am employed as a Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust/University of Manchester, Division of Cancer Sciences.  My areas of research interest to date have been in hepatobiliary cancers and I have published work in these subject areas as well as others (Central Nervous System tumours in particular) and will continue clinical research work in the area of Hepatopancreaticobiliary cancer and Neuroendocrine tumours.  I lead and participate in clinical trials and serve on data safety monitoring and trial steering committees for International clinical trials.

Biography

I was appointed on July 1st 2014 as a Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology (University of Manchester/The Christie NHS Foundation Trust).  I treat patients with a diagnosis of Hepatopancreaticobiliary cancer and Neuroendocrine tumours.  I did a 3 year clinical research fellowship in “Princess Margaret Cancer Centre”, Toronto, Canada (2011-2014) in Gastrointestinal tract cancers and Central Nervous System tumours.  I obtained my Certificate of Satisfactory completion of specialist training (Medical Oncology) from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.  I have Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of UK.  I also have a degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Pharmacology (National University of Ireland, Galway).
