Research Summary

My research interests are 1) international political economy with a focus on trade agreements, trade liberalization, and foreign direct investment; 2) international cooperation with a focus on the design of international organizations; 3) energy and environmental policy; 4) labour rights and discrimination; 5) media and political behaviour; 6) economic history; and 7) spatial econometrics.

With Andreas Dür (University of Salzburg) and Manfred Elsig (WTI Bern) I completed data collection on about 600 trade agreements signed from 1950 to the present day. Using manual content analysis and statistical techniques to check coders'' reliability, the dataset includes measures on flexibility, coverage, commitments, trade integration, and delegation features.
