Adjunct professor of The Political Economy of Climate Change at IE School of Global and Public Affairs

Biography

Lara Lázaro Touza holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE), an MSc in Environmental Assessment and Evaluation from the LSE and a BSc in Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She is Senior Analyst in the Energy and Climate Change Programme at Real Instituto Elcano in Madrid. She is also a lecturer in Economic Theory at Colegio Universitario Cardenal Cisneros (attached to Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and at IE School of Global and Public Affairs. At IE she lectures on the Political Economy of Climate Change in the Master’s in International Development, a programme developed in partnership with the United Nations System Staff College. Prior to that she was appointed Postdoctoral Fellow at the London School of Economics. She also worked for Bloomberg. As a consultant she has worked for Abengoa Research on its ‘Energy Transition and Climate Change’ Project and for Repsol’s Technology Centre on a project envisioned to develop a decision-support system to help optimise the company’s future energy technology portfolio. She was the Director of the Master’s in Environmental Management (2011-2013) at IE University where she lectured on Environmental Policy and Decision-Making. She has participated in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on energy and climate change in 2011. In 2018 Dr. Lázaro Touza took part in Germany’s Federal Foreign Office Visitor’s Programme on Climate Policy for 2050. Dr. Lázaro Touza is currently working on a EU-funded H2020 research project called MUSTEC (Market Uptake of Solar Thermal Electricity through Cooperation) and on a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Business analysing the impact of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on global governance.
