Biography

Center for Creative Leadership

Heather has over 15 years combined experience in research, evaluation, and leadership development, with an emphasis on public health, healthcare, nonprofits, and early leadership development. Since 2008, when Heather joined the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®), a top-ranked, global provider of leadership education and research, she has worked on a variety of evaluation and research studies, including work in North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. She has provided evaluation capacity development workshops for internal staff and external clients. Heather has extensive experience with grant-funded and other third-party funded projects including funding from foundations, federal agencies, and other organizations. She has experience with a wide range of evaluation methodologies including social network analysis, success case methodology, and the evaluation of action learning and action development.

Heather is a senior evaluation faculty member in the Evaluation Center at the Center for Creative Leadership. In this capacity, she works with CCL staff, global clients, and external evaluators to design and conduct customized evaluations for CCL programs, products, and services. This work includes identifying organizational and leader needs, articulating program outcomes, selecting the most appropriate methods for evaluating initiatives for improvement and impact, and reporting the findings to key stakeholders. Heather has worked with clients from a broad range of sectors including government, finance, and technology, but has extensive experience in the health sector and in early leadership development.

In addition to her work developing custom evaluations, Heather is leading an organizational effort to provide standardized post-program impact findings to all of CCL’s custom clients, and to improve CCL’s understanding of the impact of our programs.

Heather earned a B.A. in Psychology from North Carolina State University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from North Carolina State University. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in adolescent health at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Heather has authored 20 peer-reviewed articles, 4 book chapters, and numerous technical reports and conference presentations. She has served as a journal reviewer for a variety of academic journals and is a member of the American Evaluation Association, the American Public Health Association, and the Association for Psychological Science.
