Biography
Gene Deszca is a Professor Emeritus and a full professor. During his Laurier career, he served as MBA Director, the Associate MBA Director, and the Head of the Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management Area Group. As MBA Director, he played major leadership roles in the development of the one-year full-time program, the executive style off-campus MBA programs, the CMA-MBA program and the International Business Concentration.
Gene is a passionate teacher. In addition to his work with Laurier students, he has taught at a number of universities, including St Francis Xavier, Queen's, and York. He continues to deliver courses for the Graduate School of Business at the University of Stellenbosch (Cape Town, S. Africa) and the Audencia Business School (Nante, France).
As an educator and researcher, Gene focuses on the development of organizational and individual capacities to effectively adapt to their evolving environments, frame and enact strategy, and lead change. He has authored 6 books, and over 100 papers, monographs and cases. His most recent book is Organizational Change: An Action Oriented Toolkit (4th ed.). Thousand Oaks, California: Sage, 2020).
As a consultant and advisor, Gene has facilitated programs for middle and senior level professionals and executives in public and private sector organizations, including KIK, Bruce Power, GlaxoSmithKline, Canada, Volkswagen, the Ontario Ministry of Education, and the Certified Public Accountants of Ontario and Canada. He has sat on boards (e.g, Turbosonic; the Certified Management Accountants of Canada’s National Board), mediated educational labour disputes, and is an advisor to Geeq, a blockchain entrant (https://geeq.io).
