Kenan-Flagler Business School

Doug Elvers is a professor in the operations, technology and innovation management area, with special expertise in the international business arena. 

His research activities have included work in the areas of international operations, business issues in the European Union, scheduling, job shop dispatching and project management. 

He is particularly familiar with the business environment in Germany and with issues concerning the European Union. He has represented the United States in various international conferences around the world, including the German-Russian Relations Conference in Duderstadt, Germany, and in Moscow. 

An award-winning teacher, Dr. Elvers has taught a variety of courses ranging from introductory statistics to business policy, but his major strengths are in the disciplines of operations management and international business, with a concentration on European business. 

Dr. Elvers has taught classes in Europe, Africa, South America and North America, and twice held visiting professorships at Georg August Universitat in Gottingen, Germany. 

He is renowned for his summer study program that takes business students to Belgium and Germany and introduces them to the European business community. He has accompanied over 500 students on study abroad programs during the last 14 years. 

He received his PhD from the University of Michigan, his MBA from Indiana University and his BS in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
