GIBS Business School
Dr Dorothy Ndletyana, a Fulbright Scholar, joined the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in 2017 and holds the position of Senior Lecturer. She leads the MPhil with a specialization in Change Leadership. Her research, teaching and consulting interests span across Humane Centred Leadership, Human Resource Management, Human Behaviour and Organisational Development.
Dr Ndletyana Chairs two GIBS academic committees and Webber Wentzel’s Empowerment Trust. She leads Ndletyana Learning, a boutique consulting practice, where she provides the following services to a niche client base: OD & Talent Management Advisory; Integral Coaching and Design, Development & Facilitation of deeply transformative interventions.
Dr Ndletyana amassed 17 years corporate experience in senior management roles before joining academia. She led Standard Chartered Bank’s Learning function in 15 African countries, overseeing delivery of the Bank’s learning & development strategy. At FirstRand she led a team that introduced and embedded the Learning & Talent Management practice at FirstRand’s Corporate Centre while concurrently leading Leadership Development at FirstRand Group level, for six years. Before that she served Deloitte for nine years, both as Head of Learning in South Africa and as Global Learning Manager at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in New York, where she focused on leadership development at different levels in South Africa and across 16 European countries.
Dr Ndletyana feels most like herself when she is teaching and coaching. She is an ICF-accredited Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and New Ventures West Certified Integral Coach . Her coaching practice focuses on developing the whole person where she helps clients to develop competence in the following streams: cognitive, emotional, somatic, relational, and spiritual. Clients develop a way of being that not only integrates the streams but enables them to live lives aligned to their own aspirations. Her clients report achieving the following outcomes: clarity, enhanced confidence & self-esteem, improved wellness including reduced stress and anxiety, improved performance, and relationships. Dr Ndletyana has mentored novice coaches at the Centre for Coaching at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business and has served on panels to certify coaches.
