Deependra Moitra

Deependra Moitra, Ph.D., is a management consultant, educator, and speaker to C-suite executives at companies globally. He specialises in the areas of strategy, innovation, and change.

Deependra is devoted to helping leaders and companies achieve sustainable profitable growth. He frequently teaches senior management programs for Duke Corporate Education and the Indian School of Business, and serves as a Visiting Professor of Strategy & Innovation at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad as well as several top-ranking business schools in Europe. He leverages a unique combination of extensive industry experience and real-world research to deliver actionable and impactful insights to his consulting and teaching engagements.

He has over 27 years of experience in formulating and executing strategy, spearheading profitable growth through innovation, incubating new businesses, leading product as well as service innovation, managing global R&D footprints, and orchestrating organizational change. He has collaborated with hundreds of CXOs at companies worldwide, and helped them capture near-term performance gains and create longer-term business growth options. His clients include leading multinational corporations, high-growth companies, professional services firms, and private equity firms spread across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Previously, he held senior leadership positions at Infosys Technologies and Lucent Technologies. At Infosys, he was instrumental in shaping the company’s nonlinear growth strategy and spearheaded a highly successful services innovation initiative, encompassing emerging technologies R&D, business technology consulting, and intellectual property commercialization. At Lucent, he played a key role in establishing a high-performance product development organization in India and led it to formally achieve the status of Bell Labs in a record time of 2 years. Earlier in his career, he worked in various technical roles at Siemens and Indian Space Research Organization.

Deependra obtained a B.Tech. (Honours) degree from the University of Calicut and earned his Ph.D. from Erasmus University’s Rotterdam School of Management. Regarded as one of the leading experts on global strategy and innovation, he is a regular speaker at major industry forums and international conferences. He has many widely cited publications to his credit, including two books, and serves on several advisory as well as journal editorial boards. A recipient of numerous awards and honours, his leadership philosophy and style have formed the content of a full chapter in an internationally acclaimed book, Leading with Wisdom, published by Routledge in 2007.
