Biography

Deborah Schanz is head of the Institute for Business Taxation at LMU. Her research focuses on corporate taxation, the complexity of tax systems, international tax law, especially the OECD Base Erosion Profit Shifting (BEPS) project, and digitalisation. Deborah Schanz heads the Tax Working Group of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V., is a member of the board of the German section of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), and is Principal Investigator and LMU spokesperson in the Collaborative Research Centre TRR 266 - "Accounting for Transparency", funded by the German Research Foundation. She regularly comments on tax issues in print, radio and TV. As a tax expert, she advises the German Bundestag and the OECD. In 2022, Deborah Schanz was an academic visitor at the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation.
