UW Professional & Continuing Education
Clayton Antieau is a horticulturist, botanist and natural resources scientist with more than 32 years of professional experience in the Pacific Northwest. His project experience spans a broad variety of natural resource management activity, including rare plant biology and management, wetland science and ecological restoration. His development projects include forest management, hydroelectric and transmission line development, park master planning and mining. He has worked for Seattle Public Utilities since 2000 as a watershed planner, botanist and an environmental review (SEPA) and environmental permit specialist. Between 2000 and 2009, he was the lead planner for implementing the City of Seattle’s Cedar River Watershed Habitat Conservation Plan.
He’s a recognized local authority and educator in Northwest plants — native and non-native — and has taught courses in plant identification, horticulture and landscape management, wetland science, restoration science and other related subjects at the University of Washington and numerous technical and community colleges throughout the region.
Antieau is a past president and a current director of the Washington Native Plant Society. He has served on the board for the Society for Ecological Restoration’s Northwest Chapter, on the board for the Washington Trails Association and on the Science Advisory Committee for EarthCorps.
