Blake Paxton
Adjunct Professor at DePaul University
Biography
DePaul University
I received my M.A. in Counseling from Northwestern University. I specialize in working with adults, specifically in the areas of relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and coping with grief due to illness or losing a loved one. I also have a doctorate in communication studies (emphasis in family communication). I have extensive experience in university teaching and conduct research in the areas of interpersonal communication, gender and communication, and bereavement studies. I have published articles and a book on how to cope with experiences of death and the power of continuing a bond with the deceased. I believe that we are all narrators of our own lives. When faced with situations of adversity, sometimes it feels as if we are trapped in a story we cannot escape. As a mental health professional, I am committed to being by your side during your darkest times—to help you find healing and strength and rewrite the story of your life.
My office is located at 840 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago. Telehealth is also available.
Insurances accepted are Aetna, BCBS PPO, CampusCare, Cigna, Cigna HMO, First Health, and self-paying clients.
