Anthony Whitten is the Director of Diversity Admissions, a school-wide DEIB team role, partnering closely with admissions teams across all of our Haas degree programs with a dotted line report into FTMBA admissions. Anthony joined Berkeley Haas in 2019 as a member of the Full-Time MBA Admissions Team. As an Associate Director of Admissions, he recruited and evaluated students globally. Anthony participated in the wholesale reinvention of the recruitment function during the pandemic imposed remote engagement period. Recognized for his leadership, Anthony was elevated to the role of Sr. Associate Director of Admissions and head of the operations unit. In that role, Anthony oversaw the applicant journey from first touch with the admissions unit through matriculation in the program. Prior to joining Haas, Anthony served as the NextGen Media Outreach Coordinator at the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. In his work, Anthony developed and implemented pre-college and pipeline programs for prospective students. Before working in higher education, Anthony spent 12 years as a public high school teacher in Virginia. He taught courses including journalism, US history, and economics and personal finance. Anthony completed his Bachelor’s in History and African American Studies at the University of Virginia. Additionally, he holds masters degrees in Educational Leadership and Policy from Portland State and Teaching from the University of Virginia.
