Biography

Andrew is a corporate writer and academic. He has written twelve (and edited two) books in communications and business. In 2009-2011 he worked with the CEO of Marks & Spencer and also with Royal Naval Command. In 2012, after two years’ research, he wrote The Royal Navy Leadership Manual (Random House).

The Royal Navy Manual is remarkable for being the first leadership guide the Royal Navy has commissioned since 1963; it represents an extraordinary piece of leadership, cultural and corporate research, the most widespread ever undertaken by the Navy; and the lessons it contains can be applied as “soft skill” to any organisation.

Andrew advises and writes for individual CEOs, bankers, diplomats and others. He has worked with: Babcock International PLC, Christie & Co, Consilia Ltd, Decision Strategies Inc; Diageo Plc, Dixons Plc, Equity-I Ltd, European Venture Capital Association, Gow & Partners, ITV, Kent County Council, Kohn Foundation, Lyceum Capital LLP, Spencer Stuart, Sandhurst Military Academy, Tahari Inc, Three Valleys Water Plc, Turtlejob China, Troika Capital Russia, Vance Inc, Welsh Assembly Government, Westhill Partners Inc (Partner and EU CEO when the firm was sold) and Zuellig Group SA.

He was educated at Cambridge (double first), Harvard (Kennedy Fellow) and Oxford (D Phil, Linguistics) where he was Research Fellow of Christ Church. He is a Senior Fellow of Aberystwyth University Business School and on the board of Swansea University Business School and LEAD Wales. He is a Trustee of King Alfred’s Educational Charity (vice-chair) and a Governor of King Alfred’s School, Oxfordshire’s best-performing state school.
