li Gholipour is an Associate Professor in Radiology at Harvard Medical School, Director of the Intelligent Medical Imaging research group at the Computational Radiology Laboratory, and Director of Translational Research in the Radiology Department at Boston Children’s Hospital. He received all his degrees in Electrical Engineering (PhD’08 at the University of Texas at Dallas, and MSc’03 and BSc’01 at the University of Tehran); and is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a member of the editorial boards of Medical Image Analysis and IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. He has served as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), UK Medical Research Council (MRC), UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (ESPRC), Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), Austrian Research Fund (FWF), and Czech Science Foundation (GACR); and has served as a committee member and reviewer for several international meetings and workshops, including Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention (MICCAI), and IEEE Symposium on Biomedical Imaging. Dr. Gholipour is also adjunct teaching faculty at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where he teaches courses on Statistics for Data Science, and Machine Learning. He has served on PhD dissertation committees at WPI, Northeastern University, University of Geneva, and the University of Tehran.

Dr. Gholipour's research interests lie in the broad areas of signals and systems, and intelligent systems. Currently his research is focusd on medical imaging and image analysis, more specifically on the development of new imaging technologies and methods to study early human brain development. In this domain, he has developed techniques and tools for fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); super-resolution image reconstruction; motion-robust diffusion-weighted MRI; functional MRI; brain functional localization; artifact reduction in MRI; image registration, segmentation, and analysis; and atlas construction. Dr. Gholipour has been principal investigator of grants funded by the National Institutes of Health, and awards from the Thrasher Research Fund, the Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center, the McKnight Foundation, the Fetal Health Foundation, and the Office of Faculty Development at Boston Children's Hospital.
