Alexander Blood

Dr. Alexander J. “AJ” Blood is a cardiologist and a critical care and research fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.

Originally from McLean, Virginia, AJ attended Johns Hopkins University majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Management prior to completing a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. He was in the inaugural class at the Hofstra-Northwell school of medicine where he served as founding president of the student council and founded the administrative research internship. After completing medical school he was accepted to Duke University for his internal medicine residency. While at Duke, he developed a research interest in remote healthcare delivery and integrating technology to make healthcare easier to both provide and consume. He developed multiple patents in remote healthcare delivery and co-founded a company focused on triaging patients with suspected heart attacks. He subsequently trained in cardiovascular medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he worked with the One Brave Idea research group and the Digital Care Transformation team to use AI models to appropriately identify, and create care algorithms to equitably and efficiently initiate, titrate, and monitor response to therapy to prevent and treat chronic disease. As a research fellow in the Digital Care Transformation research group at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, AJ designs and conducts randomized clinical trials in pharmaceutical and digital therapeutics targeting cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. AJ is completing his master’s degree in epidemiology at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.
