Alain-Laurent Verbeke (°1964) is a double Chaired University Professor of Law at the University of Leuven (since 1991). He is Visiting Professor of Law at Harvard Law School (since 2007), Professor of Law at Tilburg Law School (since 1999) and UCP Lisbon Global School of Law (since 2008). As an attorney, he is a Founding Partner of GREENILLE (since 2003).

At the Leuven Faculty of Law, he is Director of the Institute for Family Property Law; codirector of the Institute for Contract Law; the Center for Notary Law; TEMPRA, the Leuven Antwerp Trusts, Estates, Matrimonial Property Law Research Alliance and ICBO, the Antwerp Leuven Center for Construction Law and Real Estate. He is Hon. Director of the Institute for Property Law. At the Leuven Faculty of Psychology, he is codirector of LCM, the Leuven Center for Collaborative Management. In Leuven, his current teaching includes family property law, estate planning, contracts, comparative law, negotiation and mediation. He is teaching negotiation in Harvard, Lisbon and Tilburg. He also teaches estate planning at the University of Brussels VUB (since 2008) and was awarded the Belgian Francqui Chair (2010-2011, VUB).

Verbeke is Founding Partner with GREENILLE, a private client law firm with attorneys in Belgium (Brussels, Antwerp, Kortrijk) and notaries and attorneys in The Netherlands (Amsterdam and Rotterdam). As an attorney, at the bars of Brussels and Kortrijk, his focus is double. On the preventive side, he coaches and facilitates processes of family harmony and next gen trajectories, in large family businesses. On the conflict side, he is mostly negotiating inheritance, divorce and contract cases. He also is a certified mediator, and an arbitrator in national and international (ICC) contract and inheritance cases.
