About the course

Crisis Management is part of good governance. Don't let a crisis manage your company, but learn how to design a strategy and build the team that can successfully manage the crisis. In this course the latest standards in the field will be reviewed and new and innovative techniques will be demonstrated. Participants will systematically learn and practice ways to create, train and exercise a crisis management team (CMT) in their organization.

The participants will be able to select alternate and secure locations for your executive team, understand the importance of properly opening and closing the emergency management center, create effective, action-oriented, plans to manage through a disaster, work with public authorities to reduce the impact of a crisis, audit the crisis management programmed using internationally accepted standards.

Day 2

Preparing for Emergency Planning

  • General Principles; Objectives of EP’s, Consultations, steps to adequate preparedness
  • Preparing for emergency planning:
  • Key components and information required for emergency plans
  • Onsite emergency plans; Key personnel/contents of EP
  • Case study; Piper Alpha
  • Day 2 close-out summary

Day 3

  • Summary of day 1 and 2
  • Crisis Communication:
  • 10 steps to adequate crisis communication plan
  • Syndicate exercise, identification of communication failures during crisis situation
  • Handling the media
  • Case study; Review of CEO statements of occidental piper; Bhopal disaster
  • Day 3 close-out summary

Day 4

  • Summary of day 1, 2 and 3
  • Media and relatives handling
  • Implementation of emergency and crisis management plans; turning the process into a project like work
  • Leadership and communication issues
