Hertie School of Governance

Wiebke Rabe is a PhD candidate at the Hertie School of Governance. Her research focuses on provincial governance, political economy, the internationalization of Chinese enterprises and Chinese infrastructure provision at home and abroad. Previously, she was a Research Associate at the Hertie School working on Chinese investments directed towards the European Union. She conducted extensive fieldwork in local China and gained further work experience with the Mercator Institute for China Studies and with the Austrian Embassy in Beijing. Wiebke graduated from Utrecht University with distinction (MA Conflict Studies / International Relations) and holds a BA in European Studies from the University of Bremen. Her dissertation project is funded with a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
