Wesley Longhofer joined the Goizueta Business School in 2012 after receiving his PhD in sociology from the University of Minnesota. His research interests include organizational sociology, global and transnational sociology, institutional theory, nongovernmental organizations, and the environment. Some of his current research includes an NSF-funded project examining the organizational dynamics of global climate change (with Don Grant and Andrew Jorgenson), a comparative study of civil society organizations and educational outcomes (with Tricia Bromley and Evan Schofer), and a systematic review of the academic literature on nongovernmental organizations as part of the NGO Knowledge Collective (with Jen Brass, Rachel Robinson, and Allison Schnabel). Some of his published work has appeared in the American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, Sociological Science, and Scientific Reports. Wes also holds courtesy positions in sociology, ethics, and the Emory Global Health Institute, and he is a faculty advisor to Social Enterprise@Goizueta, an academic research center that aspires to make markets work for more people, in more places, in more ways.
