Biography

Vickie VanDeventer graduated from Indiana University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and in 2006 with a Master''s Degree in Public Health. She received family nurse practitioner certification in 2009.

She has been a nurse at Bloomington Hospital for over 27 years, currently filling the role of director of emergency management. She has served on the governor''s advisory committee for hospital preparedness, which is the Hospital Bioterrorism Preparedness Planning Committee, and is on the state advisory committee for Altered Standards of Care and the Emergency Preparedness Committee for the Indiana Rural Health Association. She served as the coordinator for hospital preparedness for public health district 8. She is active on the local level and is a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

She has presented multiple abstracts at state and national conferences, and has published three articles. She was a fellow in 2005-06 Mid-America Regional Public Health Leadership Institute. She is an adjunct professor for the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University.
