Center for Creative Leadership

Sylvester is an experienced leadership coach, award winning researcher, engaging speaker, and skilled facilitator. He has held a variety of senior leadership roles during his career at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC where he has worked since 1989. Sylvester has held a variety of senior leadership roles at the Center. Currently, he is a Director in Research, Innovation and New Product Development, leading the Assessments, Tools, and Publications functions. His groups are responsible for design and development of new tools, instruments, publications, and other products, as well as for refining product profitability, innovation, quality and service improvements to existing related products.

Prior to joining the Center, he worked as an administrator and as an instructor at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, teaching courses in Psychology and Statistics. Sylvester has successfully partnered with clients to design and implement innovative development related initiatives with groups and individuals at the highest leadership levels in many organizations and he has served as a feedback coach for hundreds of successful executives.

During his more than 20 years in human resources, he has continually published articles in scholarly and professional journals related to leadership development, assessment, and organizational effectiveness.

Sylvester is a past recipient of the distinguished Scientific Contributions Award given by the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management. He has extensive experience designing and implementing assessment and organizational development projects. His invited presentations include: the Academy of Management, The Conference Board, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, HR.com, the International Creativity Conference and many others.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Economics and Industrial Relations. He completed extensive graduate course work in psychometrics, psychology, and adult education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he serves on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association. He is a member of the American Society for Training and Development, the Academy of Management and the North Carolina Industrial and Organizational Psychologists.
