Svjetlana Madzar is a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship Department at CSOM. Her interests focus on collaboration within and across firms, and globally. She teaches courses such as Management of teams, Strategic alliances, and Competing globally, across several programs, including Global EMBA and DBA China. She also teaches in multiple open and custom executive education programs. Prior to joining Carlson,Svjetlana was a chaired associate professor at Gustavus Adolphus College. She has also been a guest faculty at a variety of business schools around the world, including, HEC France, IMD Switzerland, University of Tubingen Germany, IE Spain, and ISB, SOIL and IIM Udaipur India. Svjetlana has taken CSOM MBA students on international residence programs to France, India, Peru, Chile and Cuba.
Svjetlana is a member of the Academy of Management, Academy of International Business and European Academy of Management. She received her M.A and PhD degrees from the University of Minnesota. As a management educator, she has worked with a variety of multinational companies on challenges regarding working across borders, and managing global teams. Madzar was voted teacher of the year by parttime MBA students in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2018, and received an annual faculty teaching award in 2013. She is also a recipient of the Carlson School outstanding service award in 2015.
Svjetlana has served on two Boards—Global Minnesota (19982004), and American Refugee Committee (20052017).
