Biography
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town and completed her PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. She has been a member of academic staff at UMIST/the University of Manchester since 1996, where she is a member of the Centre for Process Integrationwithin the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science.
Megan has industrial experience as a process engineer with Unilever. Her research aims to develop design methodologies for separation and reactive separation processes that are inherently efficient, in terms of energy demand, raw material consumption, waste production and generation of emissions.
Recent and current research projects develop methodologies for conceptual design, retrofit and optimisation of separation systems. Systems addressed include heat-integrated distillation systems, refinery distillation processes, hybrid separation processes and liquid-liquid extraction.
