IFF Training
Steve Mills is a well-known figure in oil and gas finance. Until he decided to devote himself to training, development work and writing in the area of project finance, he was Head of Oil and Gas Project Finance for Royal Bank of Scotland in the City of London.
Steve is a career project finance banker with more than 20 years of experience in lending and advisory work. Before joining RBS (in 2000) he headed oil and gas and wider project finance teams at Sumitomo Bank and Commerzbank. In 1990, he was a founder Director of Sceptre Management Limited, a corporate finance advisory company specialising in project financing for the capital-intensive industries. Steve’s track-record in oil and gas banking spans the hydrocarbon chain.
He has a particular interest in:
- Upstream independent company financing – especially the structuring of “tailored” senior and subordinated debt facilities in connection with acquisitions and the development of smaller, short-life field developments
- LNG projects – both liquefaction and re-gasification plants
- Petrochemicals – particularly polyolefin, aromatics and synthetic diesel projects using gas-based feedstocks
- Pipelines – both trunk transmission pipelines and regulated gas distribution
Steve develops and delivers training in project finance by means of public courses and tailored tuition structured for clients (banks, legal firms, and oil and gas companies) with particular needs and interests. He is fluent in French and German. A member of the Energy Institute, he has written articles on project financing for a range of industry journals and is an active speaker at industry conferences.
