Biography
Cork University Business School
Dr. Siobhán Lucey received her PhD from the University of Glasgow and is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. She returned to UCC in 2017 after working at the University of Stirling and has held visiting scholar positions at the University of Edinburgh, University of St. Andrews, University of Dundee and University of Strathclyde.
Following graduation from Cork University Dental School and Hospital in 2007, I moved further afield to Scotland, where I completed Vocational Training within the community and hospital dental services. I spent a further year in a Senior House Officer role before embarking on a 3 year specialist training programme in Paediatric Dentistry in the Edinburgh Dental Institute. During this time, I obtained an MClinDent degree, which incorporated a research dissertation. I obtained my Membership in Paediatric Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013.
Since then, I have spent 4 years working in specialist practice as a paediatric dentist in Dublin and Cork, before taking up my current post as a Specialist Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry in the Cork University Dental School and Hospital in early 2018. I am interested in the prevention of caries (tooth decay) in young children, and, in particular, the social factors which may influence the development of this condition.
