Biography

I joined Alliance Manchester Business School in January 2014 as a Lecturer in Health Care Management and as a tutor and cohort director on the NHS Leadership Academy''s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (MSC Healthcare Leadership) programme. I am currently acting Deputy Director for the Higher Specialist Scientific (HSST) programme Unit A modules. In addition, I am a module lead for health economics in the MSc International Healthcare Leadership programme; joint lead for Module A1 on professionalism and professional practice as part of the HSST programme; a contributor to the Business of Healthcare Module (BMAN31781) and an accredited facilitator of the ExperienceChange_™_ simulation, the Oshry_™_ Organization Workshop and the NHS Leadership Academy''s Healthcare Leadership Model 360.

Prior to joining the university, I studied Health Economics and Health Care Management at postgraduate level, worked in the English National Health Service as a manager from 2000-07 and then at De Montfort University, lecturing in health care management from 2007-13, from where I was awarded the Vice Chancellor''s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2012 and the University''s Teacher Fellowship in 2013.

I was awarded my PhD in Business and Management from Alliance Manchester Business School in 2016. My research focussed on a case study of change in medical education.

In 2015, I led a writing project for the Higher Education Acdemy (£25,000) at the Business School, which provided primer guides to teaching topics in higher education. In 2017, I am part of an Alliance MBS/King''s Fund project conducting a scoping review of NHS Improvement''s Developing People: Improving Care framework.
