Salona Lutchman is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Public Law at the University of Cape Town since January 2013. She is currently the course coordinator for the final year course on the Law of Evidence. Salona co-teaches International law (at the intermediate and preliminary levels) and European Union law (final year elective). She completed her LLB degree (summa cum laude) from the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2006 and thereafter completed her articles of clerkship at Routledge Modise attorneys in Johannesburg and was admitted as an attorney and notary of the High Court of South Africa.
In 2009, Salona moved to Cape Town and joined the Department of Private Law at the University of Cape Town as a teaching and research assistant. During this time, she was a research assistant to Professor Hanri Mostert and tutored Foundations of South African Law, Property Law and the Law of Persons and Marriage. In 2009 she was awarded a scholarship through the Academic Scholarship Programme at the University of Cape Town to pursue her LLM studies at New York University (NYU). She completed her LLM degree in International Legal Studies at NYU over 2011-2012. On her return to UCT in 2012, she was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Private law and taught the law of Succession.

Her research interests include Public International law and Human rights with a focus on children's rights and health law.
