Dr. Garcia is Professor and Chair of Health Policy and Health Services Research in the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University. Dr. Garcia’s research interests include the mechanisms of periodontal disease progression, alveolar bone loss, skeletal bone mineral density, as well as tobacco control and prevention.

Dr. Garcia has been involved in studies that encompass the areas of oral epidemiology, health services research, and health policy. His current work involves a variety of population studies with the focus on underserved populations, such as elders, minorities, and persons living with disabilities.
