Arbitrator and Mediator in business, financial and commercial matters; retired Senior Partner, Dewey & LeBoeuf (1992-2012, Adjunct Professor Financial and Securities Laws,Faculty of Law Université de Montréal, Visiting Lecturer Corporate Governance HEC-MBA Paris. Pierre de Ravel d’Esclapon has been practicing law in New York City since his graduation from the Harvard Law School in 1970. His practice has focused on the representation of foreign banks in the United States in syndicated loans, regulatory matters ( Federal Reserve ,OCC,CFTC), derivatives (ISDA and Edison Electric Institute Master Agreements), commodities financing, structured products ( insurance-related products, forensic analysis of failed securitizations, litigation relating to securitizations including bankruptcy),CDO/CLO disputes .He has also represented sponsors and off-takers in project finance transactions and in asset-based financing.
Since retiring from his law firm ,he has become an arbitrator and a mediator specializing in complex financial and commercial matters. In February 2020, he was selected as the delegate of the New York City Bar Association to the 71st Session of the UNCITRAL Working Group II Arbitration and Conciliation / Dispute Settlement.
Drawing on his experience 10-year tenure on the board of the NYSE-listed company where he chaired the Audit Committee, since 2007, he has been teaching corporate governance to MBA students at HEC in Paris and US Securities Regulations to LLM students at the Université de Montréal Law School.

Pierre is a member of the New York Bar and a retired member of the Paris Bar. He is bilingual French and English and is proficient in German.
For services rendered as an Advisor to the French Government on Foreign Trade since 1985, the President of France appointed him a Chevalier of the National Order of Merit in 1999 and in 2007 a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of France.
