Pier Luigi Dragotti (Fellow, IEEE) received the master's degree from the University of Naples, Federico II, Italy, in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree from Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2002, both in electronic engineering.,He is a Professor of signal processing in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Imperial College London, London, U.K. He is currently an IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Lecturer. He has held several visiting positions with Stanford University in 1996; Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies in 2000; and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2011.

His research interests include sampling theory and its applications, and sparsity-driven signal processing with applications in image super-resolution, neuroscience and art investigation.,Luigi Dragotti was also the recipient of a European Research Council starting investigator award for the project RecoSamp. He was the Technical Co-Chair for the European Signal Processing Conference in 2012, an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Image Processing from 2006 to 2009, and Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing from 2018 to 2020.
